Hitting us on May 22nd is Casio, label which announced its latest addition to the G-LIDE line-up of watches practical for extreme sports, all part of G-SHOCK’s brand of “shock-resistant” wrist accessories. The new GLX-5600KI is a signature model, accentuated by pro surfer Kanoa Igarashi.

Born in California back in 1997, his passion for surf arose at the age of three. Ever since then, the “wavy star” -yep, literally-, has triumphed over a major number of surfing competitions. He’s presently fronting global professional surfers who compete in the World Surf League Championship Tour.

The new watch is based on the G-LIDE GLX-5600 and ownes a tide graph, which serves as an indispensable tool for surfers. On another note, the thin and squared shaping of the watch ensures its resilience whilst surfing. The GLX-5600KI also features a see-through surface, recalling a coastal scenery. Paired with a mirror finish face, it offers a minimal yet refreshing finishing touch.

The Igarashi’s ‘Kanoa’ signature is engraved on the upper side of the watch face, likewise on the strap keeper and case back, likewise in illumination when the backlight is turned on.

With Father’s Day fast approaching, your best off getting your hands on something you won’t regret soaking as soon as you hit the shoreline in June…
