A plea to nature? Let’s rest assured that Valentino holds the truest answer. Pierpaolo Piccioli, has triumphed for another season, with his trailblazing show staged at Paris Fashion Week on June 19, serving a dosage of urban-sumptuousness in abundance. The collection hinged on the Maison’s affection for refined sartorial ease, epitomised by sharp layering and fluid apparel.
Box-like short-sleeved shirts are empowered by radiant motifs, portraying forest scenery, pastoral oceanside landscape alongside a galore of camouflage prints which came in various colourways. Naturalistic features inform a luxurious yet organic edge, juxtaposing simplicity with tailoring extravaganza, as seen in the chromatic palette which appears to alternate from beaming hues right across a duskier scale of greys, blacks and browns. As per, each season features a tantalising set of accessories, adding a poignant craving to our wallets: cross-body bags, leather belts, tartan eyewear, beaded necklaces and surface-patterned bags complement the seamless allure perfectly captured by the label, uplifting ready-to-wear through appealing silhouettes. Stand-out pieces include washed-out denim trucker jackets, fringed sweaters, longline parkas and structured lapel tailored blazers, strengthening the collection’s core aesthetic to the apex.
