The acclaimed Met Gala, a fundraising event hosted in New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, is the largest – and unquestionably, the most extravagant – listed in the global fashion agenda.
It incorporates notorious faces arising from the film, fashion and music industries, who gather to raise money for the Met’s Costume Institute and celebrate the opening of the latest exhibition.
Ever since 1995, the event has been chaired by Anna Wintour, American Vogue’s E-I-C. This year, the Met will be taking place on the first Monday of May, which falls on May 6th. The night commences with a cocktail reception, prior to which celebrities strut along the noteworthy red carpet, forging some of the finest Couture attires.
This year’s theme is framed around Susan Sontag’s essay written around 1964, Notes on “Camp”, which provides multiple ways for its realisation. Bolton suggested to Hamish Bowles that he founded this to be perfectly aligned with the current socio-cultural and political situation.
Gucci, Valentino, Schiaparelli are just a few of the designers noted to be worn in this year’s opulent trend race.
