Photo Diary Marrakech

Matthias Geerts

Last week, along with a few selected bloggers, I was invited to discover the Royal Palm and Marrakech itself. I’ve never visited Marrakech or even Morocco so I was very excited for this exotic adventure.
Upon our arrival at the airport, our hosts were waiting to greet us, and escort us quickly through immigration. Our experience began once we arrived at the hotel, where all our check in details, including having our luggage delivered to our suites, were taken care of by our hosts as we relaxed over a refreshing cocktail. Later, we were treated to a traditional dinner at one of the restaurants.

Let me tell you more about my long weekend in Marrakech! On day two, we had a chance to explore Marrakech City itself. Before seeing the city though, we visited the garden of Majorelle, which Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé bought as an escape from the hustle and bustle of Paris.
This jewel was almost sold in the 80’s to a larger hotel chain. Extensive work has been done on the property to restore it to its original state, so the visit was well worth it.

As you probably saw from my Instagram again, Marrakech the red city, was very clean, and still has a lot of greenery. One thing I really loved about Marrakech was the little streets, the souks, with all the stores. Although located in a very cozy part of the city, I did find that the locals there could be a little pushy in trying to convince you to buy something.
At the end these little streets you will find a large place/market where can find a lot of street artist with things like drogues snakes and monkeys. Be careful though when it comes to taking photos of them because the men will ask for money, and can be very aggressive if you refuse.

A nice option when in the city, when you’re feeling hungry is the Café Nomad. The café has a stunning rooftop, some great dishes for lunch, or even to stop in for a quick drink.

Quad Riding

On Saturday our planned activity was Quad riding, which was a first for me. Despite this however, the guides where really impressed with my skills, allowing me to be the last rider in the line. Which was good as I could hold on for moments and go faster if I wanted to. After a morning of riding quads, we had a traditional Moroccan lunch in the middle of the dessert, such a nice experience!

The Royal Palm

In addition to its stunning beauty, this very old city offers a large number of luxurious hotels. One of the best is the Royal Palm by Beachcomber hotels. It’s the ideal place to escape from your work life for a few days. Incredible fine architecture combined with the most impressive pool, several high quality restaurants and an unforgettable Spa in a clean, white interior.
At the pool under the palm trees and the warm wind is the perfect place to “recharge your battery” and find yourself.
The Restaurant is surrounded by water, it’s amazing how they work with so much infinity terraces giving you a calm feeling when strolling through inside and outside the hotel grounds.

Pools and Spa

There are three pools at this property. The main pool outside, located at the end of a series of infinity terraces; the second is more for recreation and sport swimming located in the gym center; and the third is located inside the spa center. In the Spa you can enjoy a number of different spa treatments including: Oli Massages, scrubs, hamman, …

Rooms or should I say suites, because The Royal Palm in Marrakech has only suites and villa’s.
It is a unique experience in luxury. Although this is not an inexpensive hotel, you get everything you pay for and more. The Service, the people are so friendly that you feel like a royal.
There are several suites and every suite includes a large bathroom, with bath and dressing area, a King sized bed, minibar, a safe, room service (breakfast on bed no extra charges) nespresso machine and tea set. All suites have clear views of the beautiful landscape, but maintains respect for your Privacy.
If you prefer even more space you have the option to book the Presidential suite, which is a suite including a living room with a fireplace, a huge terrace and two Bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms. Perfect for couples or if you like more space.
As a third option the Royal Palm offers the Villa, practically the same as a presidential suite but, on the ground floor with a private garden and pool. To top things off, if the rest wasn’t enough, it comes with your very own butler at your service 24/7!
