Swatch has recently collaborated with worldwide artists for its fifth consecutive time as Venice Biennale’s core partner. Swatch’s exhibits are split across two venues at the 58th International Art Exhibition, entitled “May You Live In Interesting Times”. Aleman of Spain, Snelling of the US, Gong of China, and Yoon of South Korea all showcase their pieces at Arsenale’s Sala d’Armi and are past Swatch Art Peace Hotel artists-in-house. Launched in 2011, Swatch’s Art Peace Hotel located in Shangai has been able to host over 330 artists from all over the world who reside and work in hotel apartments for a three to six month timeframe. All-round creatives are also able to participate, having the opportunity to taste various disciplines ranging from dance, painting, writing, to photography and many more, encouraging an impactful mark to be lingered in such environment.

On a further note, the Giardini feature Joe Tilson’s principal installation, THE FLAGS, portraying three macro paintings comprised in Tilson’s collection “The Stones of Venice”. The artist had a very close relationship with the city for over six decades. The piece serves as a go-ahead statement to the Venetian church frontages and the city’s renowned symmetric flooring.

2019 celebrates Tilson’s 90th birthday and seventh decade of artmaking. The British talent, though, finds himself among the myriad of artists that Swatch has collaborated with over the years, as part of its support for contemporary art. And in this case, giving homage to tradition, Swatch represents the Swatch x Joe Tilson watch at the Biennale.

The Venice Biennale Arte is now open and until November the 24th. For all information on how to shop the Swatch x J. Tilson watch, visit the Biennale’s website or if you’re attending the exhibition in person, the accessory is available at the showcase shops and worldwide from mid-June.
