Elevated and Elegant Style

We have seen a trend toward an elevated style with many designers presenting more suits and double-breasted jackets. They are a combinations of modern suite styles with influences of classic styles reinterpreted in a modern context. Virgil Abloh integrated suits and heavy tailoring into his spring summer collection. Suits are no longer just for the office or events buy can worn everyday, dressing it up or down based on the occasion. This intersectionality between high and low styles is something that continues to be in for 2019 with many designers rethinking the situations in which tailored pieces can be worn.

Handbags and Fannypacks

More and more designers are creating bags for their menswear line. A stand out is the Dior Saddle reinterpreted by Kim Jones, a beautifully created bag with elements of utilitarian style, this is a fresh take on a classic Dior style. It is both functional and impeccably crafted bag, a perfect accessory for almost any outfit. Some designers just showed their classic bags with their menswear show, exemplifying that their designer bags are meant to be unisex. The movement toward unisex styles is a huge upcoming trend that is still developing with every new season, checkout the articles on London Fashion week AW2019, where we saw designers experimenting with this even more.

We saw unexpected cuts on many pieces, with tailoring on garments that showed to have been inspired by more casual aesthetics. These Avant-garde tailoring techniques presents a more visually interesting styles that moves away from classical styles, showing a both elevated and redefined aesthetic that designers have been experimenting with for many seasons.

Utilitarian Style

Many styles stem from influences of military or workwear, serving both fashion and function. For spring we are seeing pieces with many pockets and performance fabrics. These styles were first introduced during the 2018 season and for 2019 they are more sophisticated and still on trend. Simplicity and function come together in these pieces, to wear these trends look simply for pieces inspired by military or workwear and make these your statement piece in your outfit.

Sandals

First it was the chunky sneaker trend, now that trend is influencing sandals. For spring and summer heavy duty and chunky sandals are big. Many designers showcased different styles of sandals for their new collections.
