Pushkar is known for its spiritual atmosphere and for this reason, there are a lot of hostels. Nevertheless, Pushkar is housing some pretty great hotels as well. The Brahma Hotel Horizon is one of these. It’s situated only 20 minutes away from the Ajmer train station (as Pushkar itself has no station) and is located close to the holy Pushkar lake.
Children often swim in the lake, however this is not recommended to tourists (and we wouldn’t even try). Nothing to worry about, as the Brahma hotel has a splendid pool, looking towards the mountains between Ajmer and Pushkar. Most of the rooms in the hotel have swimming pool (and mountain) view.
Waking up with the sun shining to the breezy curtains is here everyday-business, just like the amazing breakfast. If you’re an Italian coffee lover, you’ll definitely will leave the restaurant with a satisfied feeling. Next to several juices, cornflakes and fruits, the hotel is offering Western and Indian dishes. The only thing you won’t find at the buffet are eggs. The Pushkar Lake is one of the 5 holy Hindu places, and for this reason it is not allowed to eat eggs in its surroundings.
If you’re not sure yet how to spend your day in Pushkar, ask the friendly staff to make an itinerary for you. They have soms great suggestions such as taking the cable car up to the mountains to have a great view over the city, visiting the Brahma Temple (the only one in the world.) or advising you the best spot at the lake to watch the sunset.
After you’ve spend enough days in the peaceful streets of Pushkar continue your trip to Jodhpur, the Blue City of India.
